LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina Arts Alliance Executive Director was honored Thursday. Many wished him a farewell.
Rick Schiller will be retiring from the Angelina Arts Alliance after serving in his position for the past eight and a half years. During his time, he has dedicated himself to performing arts bringing many talents to the Temple Theater stage.
"This has been a great run for me. I think the theater is in a different place than when I came. I think we've expanded and grown; and I hope that I've helped bring the organization to a new level of artistic excellence," Schiller said.
Without a doubt he said he's going to miss working in the Temple Theater and on the campus of Angelina College. He said he will come back to visit as much as possible.
Schiller's last day at the Angelina Arts Alliance will be June 7. He is moving to Colorado to be with his family.
"Retirement is a new career. It's a new adventure. It's not going to be just sitting around," Schiller said. "I can easily fill up the time, but I want to somehow continue making a difference in whatever community I'm in."
