A Stephen F. Austin student who has definitely been a favorite in East Texas had the opportunity to sing the national anthem at Tuesday nights Astros game.
Whitney Wright said the experience was thrilling.
"It was amazing to be recognized. "This is like my dream. I really do want to sing." Wright said.
The singer has won many different competitions locally including East Texas idol and East Texas Got Talent.
"When you're from a small town you get a lot more support and like everyone kind of knows who you are and knows what you're doing. I kind of like that better. I feel more at home coming from Nacogdoches," Wright said. "I feel more supported than I would I think from Houston because it's just such a big city and I don't think I would get as much love and support."
Wright is originally from Houston but now calls East Texas home. She will continue to pursue singing as she begins grad school in the field of social work.
