HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) - Students arriving at Huntington Elementary Friday morning got a surprise.
Principal Melanie Stubblefield had to own up to an annual wager she made with the kindergarten class.
Mrs. Stubblefield had to get up on the roof this morning after at least 40 students were able to successfully learn at least 1,000 words each and spell them in the computer, earning them a ball to play with.
Even though some think she might be crazy, she loves it.
"You pretty much have to be if you are going to do this job. They all get excited knowing that on this day I am going to throw those balls down and they get very excited," said Stubblefield.
Rigo Bautista might be the happiest student Bautista spelled the most words. He not only won a ball and a free lunch from Chick fil-a.
This year was also the most students they ever had get over 1,000 words.
