E. Texas woman killed in 2-vehicle wreck on US 69 North

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - DPS has confirmed a Diboll woman has died Tuesday in a two-vehicle wreck on US 69 North, at the intersection of FM 2021.

The wreck occurred at the intersection of FM 2021. One truck rolled over and a car was smashed against a telephone pole.

The passenger of the car, Leah Maria McDonald, 18, of Diboll, was pronounced dead on the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

According to DPS Trooper Chris Stanbery, the driver of the Toyota 4-door, Nolan Ryan Ellingburg, 20, of Lufkin, pulled out from FM 2021 and was hit by the Chevrolet truck driving on US 69 toward Lufkin. The truck rolled on its side once hitting the passenger side of the car. The driver of the truck was Robert Lee Tarber of Alto.

Tarver and the passenger of the truck were sent to Memorial. A dog was also a passenger in the truck that was found later at the scene alive by family members.

A medical helicopter landed near the scene around 5:30 p.m. to take the driver of the car to ETMC in Tyler.

Specific information on any other injuries has not yet been confirmed.

No citations were given on the scene but Stanbery said at minimum one will be given to the driver of the car for failure of right of way.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
