LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - It's that time of year again.
It's the time to get out your canoes and dust off your life jackets for the 16th Annual Neches River Rendezvous is right around the corner.
The 10-mile, 3-hour canoe trip will start at the International Paper's North Boggy Slough Wildlife Management Area in Pollok on Saturday, June 1 at 8 a.m.
There will be a free shuttle service and food. Registration is also still open until Friday, so you still have time to grab your spot on this wilderness adventure.
"This is the 16th Annual Neches River Rendezvous and it's a chance to get people in the community and people from out of town to come to our community to see what we have to offer in the outdoors," said Melissa Wheeler, the program and operations manager for the Lufkin Chamber of Commerce.
Wheeler says she is expecting around 300 participants and is still looking for volunteers for the event. For more information, you can contact Melissa Wheeler at the Lufkin Chamber of Commerce.
