NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

A 25-year-old Nacogdoches woman accepted a plea bargain sentence of two years of probation for misdemeanor assault in connection to a February 2012 incident in which she stabbed a man during an argument.

Brittany Lynell Whitaker appeared in Nacogdoches County's 420th Judicial District Court Thursday for a plea hearing. The charge was originally aggravated assault.

According to a previous story, Nacogdoches Police officers responded to the 3400 block of East Main Street in response to a 911 call about an assault on February 20, 2012. When they got there, they found an injured 18-year-old man in the parking.

After further investigation, the NPD officers learned that Whitaker had stabbed the man in the shoulder with a kitchen knife. Whitaker was arrested at the scene, and the man was taken to a Nacogdoches hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.
