Sadie the Saint Bernard/Mastiff mix is a gentle giant

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

She's a 3-year-old Saint Bernard/Mastiff mix. Meet Sadie.

Nacogdoches Animal Shelter Director, Jamie Shelton has been fostering Sadie for the past 9 months and says she's an awesome dog.

"She's not real high energy because of her size but she does like to get out and run," said Shelton. "She will play fetch. She loves to swim in the pond. She loves water. She loves water out of the water hose, she loves it out of the pool. She just loves water."

Sadie has good manners and she's protective of her family but not aggressive. Sadie has been taught a few tricks including sit, shake, lay down and rollover. Sometimes she likes to skip the shake but the sniff of a treat will change that.

Sadie has never lived outside and she insists on sleeping on the couch or at least somewhere pretty comfy. She's harness and potty trained, if you hang a bell on the door she'll ring it when she needs to go out.

Shelton says Sadie has a big appetite but not one that will break the bank.

"But she's just a great dog," said Shelton. "I mean she really is she'd make a perfect addition to any body's family."

"I Want to see her go to a really really good home. She deserves a really really good home," said Shelton.

To find out how you can adopt our furry friend Sadie, call the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter at 936-560-5011or stop by and visit Sadie in person.

Tar-covered tires stick to parking lot of Lufkin tire shop

More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
