NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

A Nacogdoches woman is going to jail for nine months after pleading guilty to driving her daughter while she was high on prescription pills in February 2012.

Susan Renee Smallwood, 47, pleaded guilty to DWI with a child passenger Friday morning in District Judge Ed Klein's courtroom.

Smallwood was driving on State Highway 204 and coming from Cushing to Nacogdoches when someone called dispatch and said she was driving erratically. A trooper stopped her at the intersection of US 59 and US 259.

Smallwood admitted that she had taken Xanax and Hydrocodone but thought she was OK to drive. She said she was taking her three-year-old daughter to the hospital to be treated for cold- and bronchitis-like symptoms.
