Nacogdoches native newest Assistant U.S. Attorney

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches native Lauren Gaston was sworn into a very select group at the Ward R. Burke U.S. Federal Court house.

Gaston is now the new Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Lufkin office.

She was sworn in by U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn from Beaumont.

Gaston previously worked for the Nacgdoches and Dallas County District Attorney's office, and is happy to serve her native East Texans.

"To come back to an area I was raised in means a lot to me, so to be able to continue that work in criminal prosecution and on a federal level is something that I am pretty proud of," said Gaston.

Gaston's family and friends were on hand for the swearing in.

There were also officials from various law office from Angelina and Nacogdoches county on hand to show support.
