NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The drivers of two vehicles are both being treated at a Nacogdoches hospital after a two vehicle accident on Highway 103 East near Etoile in Nacogdoches County.
Department of Public Safety Trooper Gary Rudisill says it appears an older model white truck driven by Dennis Duron, 66, of Shelbyville, was pulling a trailer full of lumber was traveling westbound toward Angelina County when a blue Ford Taurus flew up behind the truck.
A witness told DPS that the driver of the blue car, Jean Blanton, 42, of Hemphill, flew up behind the truck and hit the trailer forcing the white truck off the road, into the guardrail on the eastbound side of 103 East and into a grassy area.
The passenger side right axle of the white truck broke off and the trailer it was towing detached and ended up about 100 feet away at the edge of a tree line with the blue car slightly on top of it.
DPS says they will be charging Blanton with driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. Troopers found marijuana in Blanton's car after the accident along with some other prescription pills.
First responders say both drivers were injured but alert.
Duron's dog Molly was in his truck at the time of the accident. She is a little shaken up and dehydrated but in good condition. Duron's brother came to pick her up from the accident.
