NPD traffic stop nets crystal meth worth more than $10K

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Police officers arrested two Houston men for possession of a crystal methamphetamine following a traffic stop in the 400 block of Northwest Loop 224 Friday.

Noel Garcia, 19, and Ismal Salas Navarro, 22, were arrested at the scene and taken to the Nacogdoches County Jail. Both men were charged with possession of over five ounces of a controlled substance, which is a second-degree felony.

Garcia was driving a Chevrolet Impala in the400 block of Northwest Loop 224 when he was stopped by a Nacogdoches Police K-9 officer for a traffic violation, according to a press release. Once the officer determined he had probable cause to search the vehicle, he allegedly found the crystal meth in the driver's compartment of the vehicle.

Navarro was a passenger in the vehicle.

The street value of the drugs seized this morning is estimated to be in excess of $10,000.
