Nashville Ballet hosting 'superhero' summer camps

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The kids participating in a unique camp at Nashville Ballet are trading in their tutus for capes this summer.

Nashville Ballet is offering superhero and fairytale-themed camps for boys and girls ages 3 to 5.

Each session is a week long, and families got a look Friday at what their little superheroes have been learning so far.

"It's not just we stand at a barre and learn ballet moves. It's really not like that at all, especially for the boys. We're putting on music. We're doing some running, some jumping, some balancing on one leg. So, it's kind of exciting to see what they can do at such a young age," said Jon Upleger, with the Nashville Ballet.

"He came home, showing us his moves every day. He came home, just excited, with new ideas of things to play, imagination just going crazy. It was just a lot of fun and a great, creative experience for him," said Anne Marie Farmer, mother of a camper.

Nashville Ballet's next Superhero Camp will be July 15 to July 19 at the Brentwood campus, and spots are still available.
