Dozier and Royals agree to deal

Posted: Updated:
POLLOK, TX (KTRE) -

Just four days after being taken number 8 overall by Kansas City, former Stephen F. Austin shortstop Hunter Dozier and the Royals have agreed to a deal. Dozier signed today for 2.2 million dollars, but the deal for a top 10 pick is normally a whole lot sweeter. According to ESPN the SFA all time leader in hits and doubles signed for almost 1 million dollars less than the allotted over 3 million dollars for a number 8 selection. Money aside however, Dozier is happy to be a Royal and will now head for mini camp tomorrow, before being assigned to the short-season Idaho Falls affiliate , which begins play on June 20th in the Pioneer League.
