Zavalla man killed in parachute accident

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Zavalla-area man died over the weekend in a parachute accident after his secondary parachute did not deploy, according CNN.

According to CNN, Miguel Carrasco, 36, had cut away from his main parachute at about 1,000 feet but did not deploy his backup chute at Skydive Spaceland in Rosharon.

According to Carrasco's Facebook page, he had just moved to the Zavalla area. He had worked as an IBM engineer in Austin.

According to KTRK, Carrasco was an experienced skydiver and was on his fourth jump of the day.
