PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Phoenix police determined a device resembling sticks of dynamite and a clock was a hoax.

Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said the device was found in an alley behind an abandoned house near 18th Avenue and Polk Street on Tuesday morning.

Police cordoned off the street while the device was being investigated and later deemed harmless.

Workers cleaning up after a recent fire reported the device.
