Panthers' Davis: "Not in my mindset to rest players" vs. Lions

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

After last Saturday's last minute loss to Lehigh Valley, Saturday's game against Columbus means very little.

But at the same time, it means a whole lot.

The Panthers are locked into the fourth seed in the PIFL Playoffs with a win or a loss Saturday.

So Panthers head coach Lucious Davis could conceivably rest many of his starters.

But Davis says that won't happen.

He says he feels it's more important for his team to build up some momentum before the playoffs.

"We're out to win. That's not my mentality to sit anybody," Davis says. "We want to win all of our games, and we haven't been doing a good job of that lately. We want to go into the playoffs with some kind of momentum. We're going to try to win the game."

The Panthers would probably also love to sweep the season series against their in-state rivals.

Kickoff against the Lions is at 7:30 Saturday. It will be the final time the Panthers will play inside the Civic Center this season.
