Lufkin hospital donates to church's Haiti mission trip

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin hospital has made a significant donation to a Nacogdoches church's mission trip to Haiti.

Woodland Heights has donated two big boxes filled with common medical supplies like bandages, Neosporin ointment, tongue depressors, alcohol swabs and thermometers.

Among the volunteers from Fredonia Hill Baptist Church heading to Haiti will be a medical team.

"We donated some common medical supplies that are in this area very easy to come by but in other parts of the world are very difficult to come by," CEO Casey Robertson said. "So we just felt like this would be a great opportunity for our facility to participate in a medical mission."

More funds and supplies are needed before the July 1 departure. To learn how you can donate to the cause, visit the church's website.

KTRE Assignments Editor Jeff Awtrey will be joining the team and giving daily reports on KTRE and at KTRE.com.
