San Augustine child dies Friday afternoon from injuries in Thursday wreck

SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A San Augustine County woman died and four children were seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident in San Augustine County Thursday morning. A 15-year-old died as a result of her injuries later Thursday afternoon.

Patsy West, 65, died at 11:29 a.m. at a San Augustine hospital. Trooper David Hendry, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said Tiffany Holloway, died at a Shreveport hospital.

According to the DPS report, West was driving a 2011 GMC Sierra at 9 a.m. on FM 1277, half of a mile west of Broaddus, when she failed to drive in a single lane, left the road and struck a concrete culvert.

Injured were Billy Mearle Holloway, 12; Bobby Holloway, 5; and William Holloway, 10. All three children are listed in critical condition with head injuries.

Everyone except Tiffany Holloway were wearing seatbelts. The other three children are in a San Augustine hospital.
