PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A wheelchair bound woman, in her 70s, escapes her burning home.

The house, located near 36th street and Campbell, caught fire this morning. Fire investigators say the woman was smoking outside on her back patio and then went inside. When she returned outside, they say she noticed her home on fire.

She was not hurt, but her home received extensive damage to the attic.

The cause is still under investigation.
