Two teens injured in rollover crash on I-220 in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Two ArkLaTex teenagers are in the hospital after a car rolled down an 11-foot embankment Monday night.

Shreveport police and firefighters responded to the crash around 11:45 p.m. along I-220 between Jefferson Paige Road and Lakeshore Drive. Police say the teenage boy that was driving was thrown from the car. They say the driver over-corrected after trying to avoid colliding with an 18-wheeler. The teenage girl in the passenger seat had to be cut out of the car with the jaws of life.

Both were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. Police say neither teenager was wearing a seatbelt. Police say speed may be to blame for the crash.

The 18-wheeler driver called in the accident and was not cited.
