ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Angelina County fire crews responded to a massive wreck between two 18-wheelers that resulted in a fire on U.S. Highway 59 just north of Lufkin Wednesday afternoon.

Steve McCool, a Lufkin city fire marshal, said no one was injured in the wreck.

The wreck occurred in front of Hammer Equipment near the intersection of Highway 59 and Winston Ranch Road at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday. One of the vehicles involved was a log truck driven by Patrick Moore, 40, of Lufkin. Moore said he was traveling northbound on Highway 59 when he attempted to turn onto Winston Ranch Road and was struck by another 18-wheeler that was headed south.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Clinton Henderson said the second 18-wheeler, which was an ABF truck, was driven by Stanley Carpenter, 56, of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Henderson said that Moore will be issued a citation for turning under unsafe conditions.

One of the 18-wheelers was destroyed by the fire, and the suffered serious damage. With one of the trucks, nothing was left but a blackened shell.

As of 4:30 p.m. one lane of traffic on both sides are open.
