After Crockett Police officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a "wanted suspect," the 36-year-old woman allegedly led them on a merry chase through Crockett, Lovelady, and Austonio Friday.

Wendy Bibbs had turned around and was headed back toward Crockett when Texas Department of Public Safety troopers used to tire spikes to disable her vehicle hear Loop 304. Bibbs, of Crockett, was taken into custody without further incident.

Bibbs is being held in the Houston County jail on felony charges of evading arrest and detention with a vehicle and theft of property. She also had a misdemeanor theft by check warrant out of Anderson County.

According to a press release issued Monday, after the attempted traffic stop, Bibbs fled in her vehicle and headed south on State Highway 19. When she got to Lovelady, she allegedly turned onto FM 1280 and went toward Austonio. Then, when Bibbs got to State Highway 21, she turned left toward Madisonville.

After traveling a short distance, Bibbs turned around and headed back toward Crockett, according to the press release. DPS troopers deployed tire spikes, and Bibb's vehicle came to a stop on Crockett's Loop 304. At that point, the troopers realized that Bibbs had her two children, ages 15 and 17, in the car with her.

Child Protective Services was contacted about the two minors.

The press release stated that deputies from the Houston County Sheriff's Office and Texas Parks & Wildlife game wardens assisted in the pursuit.
