CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - After Crockett Police officers attempted to make atraffic stop on a "wanted suspect," the 36-year-old woman allegedly led them ona merry chase through Crockett, Lovelady, and Austonio Friday.
Wendy Bibbs had turned around and was headed backtoward Crockett when Texas Department of Public Safety troopers used to tirespikes to disable her vehicle hear Loop 304. Bibbs, of Crockett, was taken intocustody without further incident.
Bibbs is being held in the Houston County jail onfelony charges of evading arrest and detention with a vehicle and theft ofproperty. She also had a misdemeanor theft by check warrant out of AndersonCounty.
According to a press release issued Monday, afterthe attempted traffic stop, Bibbs fled in her vehicle and headed south on StateHighway 19. When she got to Lovelady, she allegedly turned onto FM 1280 andwent toward Austonio. Then, when Bibbs got to State Highway 21, she turned lefttoward Madisonville.
After traveling a short distance, Bibbs turnedaround and headed back toward Crockett, according to the press release. DPStroopers deployed tire spikes, and Bibb's vehicle came to a stop on Crockett'sLoop 304. At that point, the troopers realized that Bibbs had her two children,ages 15 and 17, in the car with her.
Child Protective Services was contacted about thetwo minors.
The press release stated that deputies from theHouston County Sheriff's Office and Texas Parks & Wildlife game wardensassisted in the pursuit.
