Fight over female leads to one male being stabbed

Lufkin Police detectives are currently investing an early morning stabbing at the Deer Cross Apartments in Lufkin.

According to Sgt. Mike Shurley, at approximately 2:40 A.M. on Sunday, a male went to another male's apartment and started beating on the door, loudly.

The victim would allegedly push his way into the apartment and both men would get into a verbal disturbance.

According to the report on scene, the victim used to date the other male's girlfriend.

"The female that was inside the apartment got between the two men," said Shurley. "The victim pushed her backwards into the kitchen bar.  The altercation then became physical between the two males, and the suspect stabbed the victim three times."

The Victim was stabbed once in the upper chest, once in the lower left rib and once in the lower back.

Both men work together and it is believed that there was an incident between the two earlier in the day.

The Suspect is being described as a 25 year old male and the victim is being described as a 24 year old male.

Lufkin Police are withholding the names of both since the incident is still considered an active/pending investigation.

Shurley said the detectives working the case will consult with the District Attorney's Office to see if any charges will be pursued.
