Fight over female leads to one male being stabbed

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police detectives arecurrently investing an early morning stabbing at the Deer Cross Apartments inLufkin.

According to Sgt. Mike Shurley,at approximately 2:40 A.M. on Sunday, a male went to another male's apartment andstarted beating on the door, loudly.

The victim would allegedly pushhis way into the apartment and both men would get into a verbal disturbance.

According to the report on scene,the victim used to date the other male's girlfriend.

"The female that was inside theapartment got between the two men," said Shurley. "The victim pushed herbackwards into the kitchen bar.  The altercation then became physicalbetween the two males, and the suspect stabbed the victim three times."

The Victim was stabbed once inthe upper chest, once in the lower left rib and once in the lower back.

Both men work together and it isbelieved that there was an incident between the two earlier in the day.

The Suspect is being described asa 25 year old male and the victim is being described as a 24 year old male.

Lufkin Police are withholding thenames of both since the incident is still considered an active/pendinginvestigation.

Shurley said the detectivesworking the case will consult with the District Attorney's Office to see if anycharges will be pursued.
