Huntington church gets a fresh start

Posted: Updated:
HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) -

A Huntington church has new life after nearly shutting its doors for good.

Sunday morning worship was the first official service of the new Pinneywoods Fellowship Church.

The church was previously known as Alco Baptist Church, but after years of instability the church cut its ties with the Baptist denomination and became nondenominational.

Through all the turmoil, members said they always had hope.

"The small group that was here; we came together and decided we weren't going to quit," said Pastor Frank Young. "We weren't going to give up. We felt like we needed a fresh start on how to reach people."

Pastor Young expected to have about 10 to 15 people. Young said he could not believe his eyes when he saw that way more people showed up.

To celebrate their first week, members and guest had a fish fry after service.

The church meets every Sunday at 11 a.m. at 1801 Harley Golden Rd., Huntington, Tx.
