NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A state corrections officer is accused of assaulting two of his family members.

Two family members of the officer, John Buckley, 42, called 911 and said he tried to shoot them.

The officer was taken into custody and charged late Monday night.

Buckley works for Lois Deberry correctional facility, a state prison in Nashville for inmates with special needs.

Buckley was taken into custody at his house in Davidson County.

Police said he got into a fight with his brother at the house, and then fired a shot at his brother and niece while they were sitting on a couch.

The bullet missed the victims and hit a wall. They then ran from the house to call for help.

After investigating the incident, police charged Buckley with aggravated assault.

Police said the officer and his two relatives live together at the home.
