Smith Co. sheriff releases video of deputy's arrest

Posted: Updated:

The Smith County sheriff has released video of the arrest of a Smith County deputy for allegedly selling drugs from his patrol car.

Authorities say a jail inmate tipped them off about an East Texas deputy now charged with dealing drugs from his patrol car.

Former Smith County Deputy Kimbrick Jones remains in the Gregg County jail on charges of intent to distribute meth, intent to distribute crack cocaine, and carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.

DA Matt Bingham, the Sheriff's Department and other officials are investigating to see if Jones had any involvement in other cases that may have been affected by his alleged crimes.
