LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police have arrested a woman accused of causing more than $4,400 worth of damage to her apartment following an eviction in September.
Joshe Leeshun Johnson, 22, of Lufkin, is charged with third-degree criminal mischief. She was also arrested on five municipal charges.
According to the arrest report, police were dispatched to Pershing Place Apartments on the 700 block of Schuller Street on Sept. 4, in reference to a criminal mischief. An officer spoke to the property owner, who said she had been renting the apartment to Johnson and had evicted her. She said Johnson came to the apartment on Sept. 3 to collect her belongings.
The owner showed the officer the damage she believed Johnson caused, which included three broken windows, all the light fixtures broken, a broken kitchen faucet, the dishwasher pulled out from under the cabinet and all the insides torn out, holes in the sheetrock, the washing machine filled with trash, the thermostat broken from the wall, the threshold to the front door busted and the mini blinds torn up.
The owner said she believed Johnson did this as revenge for being evicted. She estimated the damage totaled $4,405.
According to the affidavit, a witness said they saw Johnson cause all the damage to the apartment.
Police obtained a warrant for Johnson's arrest on Nov. 8.
She was arrested on Thursday at 3:30 p.m., when officers located her on the 1200 block of Ellis Avenue.
