Police in Hartford investigating city's 10th homicide of the year

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Hartford are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting that has left one man dead.

This homicide marks the 10th homicide this year in the capital city.

Police were called to the area near of Zion Street and Flatbush Avenue near Trinity College at about 4 p.m. Saturday for reports of shots fired.

Police tell Eyewitness News the victim is 25-year-old Miguel Rodriguez, who was heading to a local grocery store when he was shot.

Police say bullets and shell casings were found in a parking lot near the scene.

A gold Nissan rattled with bullet holes and shattered windows was towed away from the scene Saturday evening.

Family members of Rodriguez tell Eyewitness News that the victim was a father and a husband.

Police are continuing the investigation.
