DPS releases names, details in Friday's Trinity Co. double-fatality

TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

The Department of Public Safety has released details on a Friday head-on collision which claimed the lives of two men.

Elbert HL Harrison Jr., 28, of Palestine, and Joe Martin Chambers, 76, of Spring, each died Friday at the scene at 4:40 p.m.

According to the report, Harrison was driving a 2001 Ford F150 southbound on State Highway 19, seven-tenths of a mile northwest of Trinity, when he crossed into the northbound lane and struck Chambers' 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix head-on.

Both men were wearing seatbelts.
