Former East Texas FBI agent awaiting sentencing on weapons charge

Posted: Updated:

A former East Texas FBI agent has pleaded guilty to one charge of possession of an unregistered firearm and now awaits sentencing.

According to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, 43 firearms and over 5,000 rounds of ammunition were seized from the home of 44-year-old Jon Gordon Brody on May 22.

Brody's charge stems from an allegation that he knowingly possessed a homemade silencer that was not registered to the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, owning a silencer is not illegal, but the silencer must be registered with the NFRTR.

Federal officials have not revealed when Brody will be sentenced, but he could face up to ten years in federal prison.
