HARVEY, LA (WWL-TV) -

WWL-TV reports the mother of a missing 6-year-old girl said her daughter's body was found in a dumpster Tuesday morning.

Authorities had been looking for Ahlittia North since Saturday.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office added she was sleeping in an apartment in Harvey around 11 p.m., but her mother awoke around 9 a.m. and couldn't find her.

Detectives said several of the child's personal items were also missing.

The front door of the apartment was open and there were no signs of forced entry, detectives said.

An arrest warrant for murder has been issued for Matthew Flugence, 20, in connection with North's death.  Flugence is also wanted on sexual battery charges involving an 11-year-old in the Harvey area.
