LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

According to Lufkin Police, a man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries after a Tuesday night single vehicle accident.

The accident happened around 11 p.m. in the 1300 block of Southwood Drive in Lufkin.

According to Sgt. Mike Shurley, the driver of a black 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was headed northbound when the vehicle's brakes possibly locked, causing him to skid off the road, and hit a pine tree in the front yard of a resident's home.

The driver was transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital. Shurley said he is expected to be life-flighted to another hospital.
