NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A 54-year-old Nacogdoches man agreed to two years of deferred adjudication in connection to a June incident in which he and another man pushed a 72-year-old man to the ground, injuring him in the process.

Cecil Clyde Davis is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on two second-degree felony charges of injury to elderly. Collectively, his bail has been set at $100,000. Deferred adjudication means that if Davis stays out of trouble for the next two years, the charge will be removed from his record.

According to Sgt. Greg Sowell, a spokesman for the Nacogdoches Police Department, the 72-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by Davis and another man during a disturbance. At about 4:44 p.m. Thursday, NPD officers were dispatched out on a disturbance call.

The caller told the 911 dispatcher that he or she saw the two men push the 72-year-old down and said that the older man was slow in getting up. Sowell said the 72-year-old man suffered a cut to his head as a result of being pushed to the asphalt.

Davis was arrested at the scene, and Sowell said an arrest warrant has been requested for the other man involved in the alleged assault.
