EAST TEXAS (KTRE) -

An upper level low pressure center is spinning in the northern Gulf and has provided us with some nice, soaking showers today.  This feature will drift slowly westward and be close enough to keep scattered downpours in the forecast this weekend.

I am not anticipating a weekend washout by any means, but certainly be mindful that you may have to run for cover a couple of times should some heavy rain and lightning head in your direction.

The better chance for rain this weekend will be on Saturday, while Sunday should be a little drier area-wide.

As this upper low eventually weakens and pushes away, our rain chances will be going down as we head into next week.

To keep tabs on the radar this weekend, please download our KTRE weather app. if you have not done so already.  Not only can you zoom down to your local neighborhood to track the rain, but you can also get hour-by-hour forecasts, access to our video webcasts, and even submit your weather photos to ktre.com.
