Center man investigated in woman's death after she jumps out of car

CENTER, TX (KTRE) -

Center Police are investigating criminal charges against a man who was driving when a woman jumped out of the moving vehicle and died three days later.

For now, Alejandro Zamora, 42, is in the Shelby County Jail on unrelated charges of DWI, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and theft of a firearm.

According to Det. Joey Haley, Katie Johnsen, jumped out of the moving vehicle on US 96 North on July 11. She died on Sunday in a Tyler hospital.

Haley said he could not say anything else about the incident, as there is an ongoing criminal investigation.
