SFA football ready for SLC media day

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - You know the college football season is getting close when media days are being held around the country. Tomorrow, Stephen F. Austin will be in Lake Charles, Louisiana for the Southland Conference media day. SFA is coming off a 5 and 6 campaign, but had a great offseason according to head coach J.C. Harper. In talking with the head man last week, Harper thinks 2013 could be something special. The jacks ended 2012 with a 34 to 17 win over Northwestern State and in the victory, the offense piled up over 530 yards, while the defense only gave up 205. Harper hopes SFA can play that way this year for 11 straight weeks. As for the excitement for the upcoming season, oh its there.

Harper said, "Thought our offseason program was tremendous. We were really competitive and spring was really good. I couldn't be any more excited for our team. I think our team wants to win and not that every team doesn't want to win, this team just seems to have something different about them. There hasn't been anything they haven't done that we have asked them to do."

Coach harper along with running back Gus Johnson and defensive end Darren Robinson will represent SFA at the SLC media day.
