CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Crockett Police Department arrested a 28-year-old woman Wednesday after she allegedly assaulted the father of her children with a box cutter after a heated argument got physical.

Suzanne Simpson, of Crockett, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is still being held in the Houston County Jail. No bail has been set at this time.

According to a press release, Crockett Police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Labelle Street Tuesday in regard to a 911 call about a fight with weapons. When the officers met with the 31-year-old victim, they found that he had several cuts on his body.

An East Texas Medical Center EMS ambulance transported the man to the emergency room for treatment of his injuries. Further investigation of the incident revealed that the man had been involved in a heated argument with the mother of his child.

When the fight turned physical, Simpson allegedly picked up a box cutter and attacked the man. After the man managed to escape, he called 911.

By the time the Crockett Police officers arrived on the scene, Simpson had fled. However, they picked her up on a warrant the next day.
