ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office have arrested three men and plan to arrest a fourth following a burglary in the Fuller Springs area Monday morning.
Sheriff Greg Sanches said deputies recovered $10,000 worth of property. They made the arrests based off of eyewitness interviews.
The burglary occurred around 11 a.m. Monday.
Deputies arrested Ricky Dewayne Penson, 41, Jahann Thomas, 23, and Marcus Landers, 19, all of Lufkin.
According to Sanches, deputies were able to identify Desmond Billups as the fourth suspect, after gathering information from witnesses and the three suspects detained near the scene.
Billups turned himself in Tuesday afternoon.
Sanches says that the four suspects have ties to gangs and that their crimes will now bring a stronger punishment.
Sanches noted that his staff has been busy this summer with more burglaries than they usually see but is impressed with the results he has gotten.
"The guys are working hard even though we are short handed," said Sanches. "They are working very hard for the public and doing a good job. They are taking it serious. I also would like to thank the public as well."
