Victim in purse snatch dragged down Phoenix sidewalk

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Silent Witness is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in an assault and attempted purse theft, in Phoenix Wednesday night.

Police said the 58-year-old victim was walking down the sidewalk at 6022 N. 16th St. about 5:30 p.m., when the suspect came up behind her and grabbed her purse. She tried to fight for her purse, and was dragged part way down the sidewalk, before the suspect gave up and fled, authorities said.

Witnesses said the suspect sped off in a white Pontiac Grand Am.

The suspect is described as a 5'11'' tall Hispanic man, between the age of 25 and 30, and weighing about 210 pounds. He was wearing a gray T-shirt and shorts.

    During a Monday night special meeting, Nacogdoches Independent School District named Sandra Dowdy the lone finalist for the superintendent position.
