GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

Two car-bicycle accidents that occurred minutes apart in adjacent West Valley suburbs, left two people injured Tuesday night.

The aunt of a 12-year-old cyclist is appealing to the motorist, who hit him in Glendale, to turn himself in.

Daniel Frampton had been with other bikers, when he was struck.

The motorist did not stop to render aid, Glendale Fire Department officials said. The vehicle is described only as a newer model silver sedan, with possible damage on the right front passenger's side, police said.

The driver fled westbound on Mountain View, toward 47th Avenue, just before 7 p.m.

"Someone saw the young man driving the car, was on his phone," said Glendale firefighter Danny Senese.

The child was not wearing a helmet, fire authorities said. He suffered injuries to his head, arms and legs, Senese said. He is in serious condition, and is expected to be OK.

The aunt said Frampton's family had just moved to Arizona from Los Angeles.

Evidence was recovered from the scene, and the investigation will be forwarded to detectives, police said.

People with any information about the accident, or fleeing motorist are asked to call 623-930-3000 or Silent Witness.

At about the same time, another cyclist suffered a severe head injury, after he was struck and injured in Peoria.

The 18-year-old man was hit in the crosswalk, and dragged under the vehicle for a short distance, before the driver stopped, police said.

The man was biking south on 78th Avenue, when the motorist turned on Peoria and struck him, officers said. The driver stayed on the scene and called 911.

The cyclist was taken to the hospital, in an ambulance.

The names of those injured have not yet been released.
