JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas man faces multiple burglary charges after police linked him to two business robberies.

According to the Jacksonville Police Department, 40-year-old Derick Joe Dale Kemp, of Houston, was arrested July 27 for burglarizing The Corner Store located at the intersection of Farm-to-Market 747 and County Road 3119.

Investigators observed that the burglary of The Corner Store was very similar to the burglary of Donut Palace, also in Jacksonville. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Department and Jacksonville PD were able to positively link the two burglaries with Kemp.

Kemp has remained in the Cherokee County Jail since he was arrested July 27. He was formally charged with the burglary of Donut Palace on Wednesday and will be arraigned Thursday.

Police officers released surveillance video of Kemp burglarizing The Corner Store on July 27. Officers arrived at the convenient store around 2 a.m. to find the front glass shattered. Upon entry, they found that the suspect had already fled the scene. After viewing surveillance footage of the burglary, a suspect and vehicle description were obtained.

Kemp was arrested after Jacksonville PD stopped a vehicle matching that description.
