COTTONWOOD, AZ (CBS5) -

Funeral services for an Army officer from Cornville killed in Afghanistan will be Monday morning.

First Lt. Jonam Russell was on foot patrol last month when he and two others were attacked with an improvised explosive device.

Russell was raised in the Yavapai County town of Cornville and commissioned through Arizona State University's Army ROTC Sun Devil Battalion as an infantry officer.

His funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Verde Baptist Church in Cottonwood.

The 25-year-old will be buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
