LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Those responsible for appointing a new director of the Angelina County Adult Supervision Office to replace retiring Director Rodney Thompson did not have to look far.
The four Angelina County judges decided to name Marcy Anthony, a casework supervisor for the past 7 years, to the post following a lengthy selection process.
While Anthony is excited to take over the post in October, she does not plan on making any big changes.
"Our department runs very well under the leadership of Rodney Thompson," Anthony said. "I'm going to have some minor changes at first but as of right now I don't have any major changes that I plan on making."
Anthony takes over a department which has recently worked on making a warrant team consisting of nine officers.
"In the last 17 years that I've worked in probation I've fallen in love with doing probation," Anthony said. "I love helping people; I wanted to make a difference. This is my community, it's our community and I wanted to see that change in people. When I fell in love with probation and loved being an officer, I knew I wanted to continue to make a difference. I knew that I could continue to do that in a much bigger way by being the director of the department."
Thompson served the past seven years as director in Angelina County. He retires after 32 years as a probation officer.
