TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Firefighters from the Trinity Fire Department recovered the body of an older woman from White Rock Creek Tuesday morning.

Trinity Police Chief Steve Jones confirmed that the body of Vicky Whitmeyer, 52, had been found in White Rock Creek. Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace said a man saw the woman's body floating in the creek and called 911.

There isn't much evidence to confirm the death was anything more than an accident, according to Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace. "Right now it looks like it was most likely an accident like she may have fell off the cliff and fell in the water and floated up a little bit."

Whitmeyer's body was sent to a medical examiner's office in Jefferson County for an autopsy. Once a report is returned, investigators will make a final determination on Whitmeyer's cause of death.
