New GED changes may cause students to start the test over from scratch

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Major changes are coming for the national General Educational Development certification test.

Students only have until the end of 2013 to retake a portion of the current test or the entire test, otherwise they will have to start all over.

The test will also only be offered on the computer and students hoping to reschedule their testing dates will need to do it before December.

"The big GED changes that are coming is that in 2013, December 31, the present test will go out. If a student has not completed their GED by December 31, 2013, they basically will have to start over," Selestine Collins Hunt, director of student development for Angelina College, said.

The GED gives those who did not complete high school the opportunity to earn the high school equivalency credential.
