TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) -

A former Department of Human Resources social worker has been indicted in Colbert County for sexually abusing children.

Chadmon Wright is being held at the Colbert County Detention Center on a $375,000 bond. A grand jury indicted Wright on a list of charges including sodomy, sexual abuse, and enticing a child.

None of the alleged victims were connected to Wright's DHR work, however officials said he met at least one of the victims while he was volunteering with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in the Shoals.

Tuscumbia Police said Wright sexually abused five young males between the ages of nine and 15. The alleged abuse took place between August 2012 and January 2013. Police said a tip from DHR launched the six month investigation.

Investigators said the case is still ongoing, and they fear there could potentially be more victims who have yet to come forward. "It's obvious he knows better. Any adult of any means should know those types of crimes are not acceptable, so that's never going to be an excuse," said Chief Tony Logan. "Trying to find out what drives a person to commit these types of crimes is very scary, and it's unfortunate, especially when we have to deal with it in our own community."

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Shoals was contacted about the allegations. They released a statement which says in part, "We are alarmed and deeply saddened by reports of any child being harmed or exploited in any way. We are unable to provide further details or speculation beyond this statement."

Wright's attorney has yet to returns calls for comment.
