Crews contain large woods fire in Nacogdoches County

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Crews have contained a large woods fire in southern Nacogdoches County.

The fire burned around 86 acres near the intersection of FM 226 and CR 422.

Etoile and Kington Volunteer Fire crews all responded to the scene, along with the Texas Forest Service. They have been on the scene since 8am working to contain this fire.

Officials with the Texas A&M Forest Service say they believe the fire was due to a lightning strike from passing storms.

There were no injuries or structures damaged.

The Forest Service says they don't believe there was any substantial damage to the trees in the area either, citing that most of what was burned was underbrush.

The fire was on private property owned by the Campbell Group, a timber investment firm.
