Police raid Diboll Food Mart after 6 month investigation into food stamp fraud

Posted: Updated:

Authorities executed a search warrant on the Diboll Food Mart on Highway 59 around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Diboll Police Chief Ricky Conner says his department conducted a six-month long investigation into Lone Star Card (food stamp) fraud.

Conner said while executing the search warrant authorities recovered illegal substance, a large amount of cash and 12 gaming machines on the premises.

Conner says he cannot identify the illegal substance or the amounts at this time.

Arrest warrants will be issued in the near future for at least one or more persons, according to Chief Conner.

The Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Inspector General's Office, U.S. Attorney's Office and the Diboll Police Department were all involved in the investigation.

Conner says more information will become available in the coming weeks as the investigation continues.
